Your Theology

Dear Laborers,

“In our mature years, theology is eminently practical. When G.K.Chesterton each summer sought out vacation lodgings for his family, he did not inquire of his prospective landlady(landlord) how often she changed her guests' sheets or how well she fed her lodgers. Such an inquiry, he sensed, would be impolite.

Instead, Chesterton inquired of his prospective host, ‘What is your theology of the universe?’ The puckish pundit reasoned that if the landlady (landlord) believed in an orderly universe filled with hope, and trusted a generous God to love God’s creatures and treat them equitably, she(he) would most likely provide clean bed linen and satisfying meals to her guests.” David Yount, Celebrating the Rest of Your Life (Minneapolis : Augsburg books, 2005 )

In your daily ministry what do others observe your theology to be? What do you hope others are observing your understanding of God to be?  Do adjustments need to be made so your witness to the “theology of the universe“ rings loud and true ?

See James 1:19-27 for further reflection.
