Worry Smashed

Dear Worriers,

My daughter Amanda received a copy of the classic devotion “Streams in the Desert” for her high school graduation. It is my hope she was blessed by it. Upon flipping through the pages of her copy, I decided to buy my own.

In the book, author C.B.Cowman quotes Charles Spurgeon: “Why do you worry? What possible use does your worrying serve? You are aboard such a large ship that you would be unable to steer even if your Captain placed you at the helm. You would not even be able to adjust the sails, yet you worry as if you were the captain or the helmsman (helmsperson) of the vessel. Be quiet, dear soul—God is the Master!”

As we begin the season of Advent which is filled with the themes of JOY, HOPE, PEACE, and LOVE, let us fervently pray. May our prayer be that the wait for the Christ Child place all worry in perspective. To live with the truth of being tethered to the one who was, is, and forever will be, smashes all worries.

See Psalm 25, and Luke 21:25-36 for further reflection.

Prayers: For Maureen, Zachery, Nicholas and all who mourn Terry Herzog. Terry died on November 18th. His service will be at Discover Community Church on Dec 7th at 11am.

The service for Terry is pretty well planned. Maureen, Zach and Nich had great ideas. One was to have the band play “I Got A Name“ by Jim Croce. In baptism we are named by God and nothing we could ever worry over can take away the fact that we are named by God for eternity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcqauC49Xmc

Thanks be to God!

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen

I'm not sure why but this weblog is loading incredibly slow for me.
Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my
end? I'll check back later and see if the problem still exists.
