What a Wonderful World
I see trees of green, red roses too I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?" They're really saying "I love you"
I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world
These are the timeless lyrics to the song What A Wonderful World, sung by the late and great Louis Armstrong. The words are simple, they are to the point; the song was recorded in the early 60’s, a time of strife and division in our country. Very similar to today. We do live in a wonderful world with some many gifts showered over us. For the most part we have all we need. Is it perfect? NO, not hardly. Not when you think of the people impacted by the massive natural disasters, lives changed forever. People suffering from illness, their caregivers so tired and scared. So many bad things happen. It does not seem like a wonderful world.
Tragedies do strike and bad things do happen but through it all, we have God’s word that He is here with us. He created this wonderful world.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.
I have to admit I get afraid, I get anxious and I forget about all the great things I have in my life. Dear Lord- thank you for this wonderful world and all the wonderful things you have placed upon it. And Lord watch over all your children no matter what trials they are facing today and everyday. Amen.
