Who Has Seen the Wind?

You might have heard this poem by Christina Rossetti.

Who Has Seen the Wind?

Who has seen the wind?

Neither I nor you.

But when the leaves hang trembling,

the wind is passing through.

Who has seen the wind?

Neither you nor I.

But when the trees bow down their heads,

the wind is passing by.

I was reminded of this poem when reading our scripture for tomorrow, John 3:1-17. In verses 7-8 we hear Jesus say, “You know well enough how the wind blows this way and that. You hear it rustling through the trees, but you have no idea where it comes from or where it’s headed next. That’s the way it is with everyone ‘born from above’ by the wind of God, the Spirit of God.”

We can’t see the wind, nor can we see the Spirit of God. Except for maybe when the trees bow their heads, or the people of God bow their heads and follow Jesus.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 10:00 am as we gather to worship and “see” where the Spirit of God is present in our lives and in our world. It won’t be the same without you.

Grace be with you,
