Where is Your Ground Zero

The term ground zero describes the point on the Earth's surface closest to a detonation. In the case of an explosion above the ground, ground zero refers to the point on the ground directly below the detonation               (borrowed from Wikispace.)

On September 11, 2001 our country came under an unspeakable despicable act of terrorism and hate. A hate that we can’t understand, a hate that has been fostered by many, for many and that will most likely never go away completely. Ground zero for those lost in the attacks were going about their business, going to work for the most part, doing what they do on any given day. We mourn them, we mourn for our country, for our world and we ask why? 10 years later we are still asking why?

Where is your ground zero? is it in a broken relationship, financial worries, problems with a loved one, a colleague , a friend ? Ground zero is where the devastation is so great that nothing is left.

When the question in your heart is what is left? Remember that God is always there, through the good times, through the bad times, through the celebrations, the joys the tears….always.

Be Close to Me

Loving God,
You know that I believe in you.
You know that I trust in you.
You know that I love you.
But sometimes life is so painful,
your ways impossible to understand,
and your world so confusing.
Sometimes I am overwhelmed with pain.
Sometimes I feel tempted to despair.
Sometimes I give way to hatred.
Sometimes I doubt even you.
In times of pain, give me comfort.
In times of despair, give me hope.
In times of hatred, give me love.
In times of doubt, give me trust.
And even when I feel far from you,
be close to me,
Loving God.
