Where is Jesus?

Have you seen Jesus lately?

That was the question on the people’s minds in John 6. Jesus fed them from just two fish and 5 rolls. Then he went away for some quiet time by himself. Even the disciples didn’t know where he was. But Jesus turns up at just the right time, gets in the boat with the disciples and the people find him on the other side of the lake.

Jesus seems to get around. Sometimes we just forget to look. Mostly though, he is the way.

Emily P. Freeman points us to Paul who writes in the New Testament: “Careful! I’ve put a huge stone on the road to Mount Zion, a stone you can’t get around. But the stone is me! If you’re looking for me, you’ll find me on the way, not in the way.” Romans 9:3 Msg

Freeman says: “For when you can’t get the funding, didn’t get the job, or can’t seem to budge the results - When her heart is breaking and you can’t fix it, when his mind is made up and you can’t change it, or when a friend is moving away - For all the times you long for answers, resolutions, clarity and control but no amount of plans or will power seem to make a difference - May you find surprising comfort in the presence of our friend Jesus who doesn’t always show us the way but instead becomes the way on our behalf.

Jesus says, “I am the bread of life.” John 6:35 We don’t have to go looking for Jesus. He’s already here.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. as we gather to celebrate Jesus in our midst. It’s going to be a great morning you won’t want to miss. We’ll thank Sam Jacobs our summer youth intern and send him off to Wyoming. And, if you have a chance, bring school supplies for Paris Elementary tomorrow! The need is great and it’s a cool way for us to live out the promise that Jesus is with us. Get the list here.

Grace and peace,
Vikki
