When God Calls

Dear Jonah’s,

Jonah is asked by God to go share God's word with people Jonah does not like. He does not want to accept the mission, in part because he fears he might succeed.

Suzanne Stable says the ”Jonah Mantra” has four points:

1)      Show up

2)      Pay attention

3)      Tell the truth

4)      Don’t get too attached to the results.

When God calls how do you do with the “Jonah Mantra”? There are times I don’t want to go. I can easily get distracted. Truth can be “massaged” a bit to fit my purposes, right? And the results better be what I want!

Jonah was called to love and so are we. The “saving" is God's business, not ours.

God calls us to engage the Jonah Mantra:

1)      Being called to show up?

2)      Pay attention “What you focus on determines what you miss,” Brian McLaren

3)      Tell the truth.

4)      Love those around you, with no regard for what the results of that might be.
