What's Your Priority?

Dear Family,

“Simply put, if you’re not willing to take what is dearest to you, whether plans or people, and kiss it good bye, you can’t be my disciple.” Luke 14:33

What or who is most dearest to you? Could you leave them or that behind?

Martin Luther astutely observed, ”There are three conversations necessary : the conversation of the heart, the mind and the purse.” Of these three, it may be that we moderns find the conversation of the purse the most difficult.   -Richard J Foster, “The Challenge of the Disciplined Life” p.19.

Let us pray we keep our priorities straight. If we do, we’ll all follow Jesus together. No one will be left behind.

Prayers for: Cindy Howell who is fighting cancer. Fred Berner who has infection in his legs. Joan Peterson, my aunt, who is recovering well from surgery. Those impacted by Hurricane Dorian. What we need to de-prioritize to follow Christ at a closer distance.

In this scene from the movie "The Jerk,” Steve Martin struggles with what to leave behind.

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
