What If God Blinks?

“If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” Luke 9:24

If for one moment God blinks, turns his face from me, what’s going to happen? This seems like a strange question but sometimes my actions and my thoughts reflect just that. Deep down I know God is always vigilante. His life flows in us, gives us hope, fills us with joy, even in the most difficult circumstances. At the same time, I know I constantly have to make choices. The choice to say yes again and again to life. Not so easy when he lays something in front of me and asks, what are we going to do about this? I personally can choose but, if what I choose is a model for others, it takes away some of my freedom of choice or does it?

The world is full of people who choose victory and hope over despair. You see it in the many faces of the immigrants who flee to this country, who are praying for a better life. In the students in Parkland, Florida and many other parts of our country who after facing tragedy, are banding together, choosing life and seeking a safer school environment, where they can learn free from fear. I doubt they know what a gift they are to us all. I thank you Father God, for a glimpse inside their inner house.

What was the last gift you received from God? Was it sin forgiven, prayer answered, joy, peace, direction given? How will we respond to such grace?

Abba God, You never blink. Nothing is wasted. You have made us in a way, that the relationships you have given us, will be everlasting. We thank you for your Spirit, we see modeled for us by others. Here in the United States and around the world. Help us to live the life you have called us to. In Jesus name. Amen
