What I Learned in July

Happy August. This is the monthly installment of “what I learned”.

Coloring is not just for kids. I love this. I think a new form of meditation!

Perfection: the thief of “good enough” – I find myself here. Not doing something because I think I won’t have time or be able to do it perfectly.

I love strawberries and I like them in salad.

Blueberry scones are perfect after a morning hike.

The Kingdom of God is all around us. I had a great time on the mission trip to Rapid City, SD. We ranged in ages 8 – 57 years. Everyone had something to teach and something to learn. Following Jesus leads to the Kingdom. The Kingdom can be found in the small things – that’s how it grows, in the small. I learned to stop looking for / expecting big – and lean into small. Small is a way to let God’s will in.

And so, my Bible verse in July was Matthew 6:10  It’s been a good reminder to submit to God’s will and get my own will out of the way. Not easy at all for someone who likes to be in control like me, but when I let God’s will rule, it turns out things are easier after all.

What did you learn in July? We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. as we gather in gratitude to worship and remind one another of the Kingdom present among and around us.

Grace and peace,
