What Are We To Do?

Isaiah 9:8-10:4

Isaiah 9:14-16 “So the Lord will cut off from Israel both head and tail, both palm branch and reed in a single day: the elders and the prominent men are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail. Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray.”

WOW! I love the old testament! Yes, there’s allegory “… the Lord will cut off from Israel both head and tail…”

And then there’s just the plain truth as Isaiah sees it “Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray.”

That’s the political climate back then and that’s the political climate today… OH Yeah, it was that way about 2000 years ago also.

So, what are we (YOU AND I) to do today?

Isaiah 9:18 “Surely wickedness burns like a fire: it consumes briers and thorns, it sets the forest thickets ablaze, so that it rolls upward in a column of smoke.”

That’s how wickedness was back then… and that’s how wickedness is today… OH Yeah, it was that way about 2000 years ago also.

So, what are we (YOU AND I) to do today?

Martin Luther King Jr. said “Darkness can’t put out darkness, only light can do that.”

Richard Rohr says “If you don’t transform your pain (read wickedness, greed, etc.) you will certainly transmit, reflect, or mirror your pain to those around you.”

If you are wicked to others…

You will cause them and yourself pain.

If you are greedy (take advantage of) others…

You will cause them and yourself pain.

Jesus was the way, the truth, and the life.

If you are forgiving to others…

You allow others and yourself to thrive.

If you are loving to others…

You allow others and yourself to thrive.

It sounds easy… if this were so… all would do it! (Gandhi)

May you know deep in every cell of your body…

YOU ARE LOVED! AMEN!
