What does it mean to you to be wasteful? Throwing out excess food? Buying something you don’t really need? Running too many errands? Watching too much tv? We can probably agree these are among the list of wasteful things.

Then there are wasted opportunities.

Opportunities we didn’t take to show love, compassion and mercy.

Jesus was often accused of wasting time, wasting relationships on the unworthy and wasting his power.

But really, showing kindness and love can never be wasteful. Even if (when) they’re not returned or appreciated.

May we be generous in sharing love, compassion and mercy – on everyone. Not just the ones who seem to deserve it. May we be wasteful like Jesus in taking the time to be with God, growing relationships with the other and sharing the power of his love everywhere we go.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 as we gather to worship, praise and thank our God that we might go and be wasteful.

Grace be with you,
