Walk this Way

Dear Pilgrims,

Two friends met at a coffee shop. One was a women whose life was a mess and she needed guidance and counsel from her friend. Her marriage was on the rocks, she had had an emotional breakdown, her social life was in ruins, and yet when she came to ask for help, she was wearing a sweatshirt stamped with the slogan, ”Jesus is the answer.”

Her friend took one look at the slogan and said to her, “I think you should scrap the idea that Jesus is the answer. Because he never said that. He said, ’I am the way.’ I think that you need to walk with him to find the answer to your problems.”

A good mentor does not offer easy answers. Rather, a great mentor invites you to follow in the way of Christ. The best advice one can receive is to build a relationship with Jesus and the community of his followers.  A relationship reaching into eternity offers far greater things than an easy answer to get you through the moment.

On Sunday we continue on our series on MENTORS. We will look at the relationship of Naomi and Ruth this week. I invite you read the book of Ruth. It is only a few pages long. Ponder how the relationship these brave women shared with God and one another gave their lives direction and purpose. How might this story influence the journey you are on with God?

Prayers: My parents would have been married 59 years on this day, let us pray for my Father Milt and all who mourn Beverly, or a loved one in their life.  For the Meadow family, as Debbi continues to struggle with cancer. For Rodney Jackson as he undergoes surgical procedures on his feet, as well as all others who are in need of healing. For world peace, from Charlottesville, Virginia to North Korea. And may God bless all schools as they resume full activity….

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
