A friend of mine admits he is a very impatient person.  He jokes that he prays for God to grant him patience and to grant it NOW.

As a kid, I remember not being able to wait for Christmas and sometimes having a very hard time trying to sleep on Christmas Eve.  I don’t think waiting gets any easier as we get older.  Today’s world of instant messenger, texts (who has time to wait for email anymore?), Amazon and video on demand certainly hasn’t made our tolerance for waiting any greater.

Yet, we still have a number of things we are waiting for.  We wait for new job opportunities, promotions, healing, grandchildren and another Super Bowl ring for the Broncos to name just a few.  However, the Israelites waited forty years wandering in the desert and then waited for additional centuries for the Messiah.  God’s time and our time are not always on the same page.

"Wait for the LORD; be strong and courageous. Wait for the LORD" Psalm 27:14                "Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him." Hebrews 11:6

These verses are reminders of God’s faithfulness and His promises.  These verses remind us to be encouraged, rather than discouraged, while we are waiting.
