Waiting?

Psalm 119:145-160

Psalm 119:145-147 “I call with all my heart; answer me, O Lord, and I will obey your decrees. I call out to you; save me and I will keep your statutes. I rise before dawn and cry for your help; I have put my hope in your word.”

It is interesting the way the psalmist states the first two verses… answer me and I will obey, save me and I will keep your statutes. It appears to me the psalmist is asking GOD to take the first step. I have seen this in others… ok, I have seen this in myself. If only GOD would (put in a miracle) then I will (put in something I should be doing but haven’t :)

We talked about forgiveness this last weekend and I wonder if I do this same thing... you know wait for forgiveness to come before I forgive… wait to offer a sign of peace before I receive peace… wait to hug before I offer a hug. Sometimes I wonder if I am just waiting?

GOD hasn’t waited for me. When I was born and didn’t even know how to breathe GOD put air in my lungs and let me scream out. When I was lonely GOD put Diana into my life and brought me companionship, and love, and joy, and family.

Today, don’t promise GOD to act if she answers you. Don’t promise GOD to love if he hears you. For heaven’s sake… act out in love and know GOD is with you, in you, and through you. GOD LOVES YOU NOW!

There is a song by Vampire Weekend called Unbelievers that I find interesting and thought provoking. One of the versus goes “I’m not excited, but should I be? Is this the fate that half of the world has planned for me?” We are loved by a GOD that gave his own son for us, that forgives us as we cause ourselves and others pain. WE ARE LOVED! Yes, we should be excited! We are not bound to the tracks of the train! We are set free to love and be loved as and for who we are! WE ARE LOVED!

Precious Father, Loving God, Holy Spirit I pray for every child, woman, and man to be excited, to be set free to love and let go of the fear and doubt and worries of this world and know that we are loved! AMEN!
