Tree of Life

We usually put up our Christmas tree after Halloween, which is pretty early, but it does bring back a lot of memories. You see all the ornaments collected throughout the years.  We put our Christmas cards on the tree and then store them when we take down the tree.  It is wonderful to receive picture cards because then you can see how your relatives and friends have grown through the years. The tree contained so many wonderful things and it is the memories of life that made the tree so special.

I think we are like our Christmas trees.  Of course, we don’t wear ornaments and lights when we go to work or school.  But we retain all those wonderful memories and seeing our relatives and friends grow through the years as they see us grow through the years.  Our relationships and friendships really make life worth living and I think the most important relationship and friendship is our interaction with God.  There are so many great trials in our Christian walk, but we learn so much and experience so much.  We have so many great memories about moments in our walk, retreats we went to, church events we went to, and so on.

God is our strength and our trunk.  We really need God in all the times of our life.  If we trust in God fully, there is absolutely nothing we can’t do.  Rely on God this Christmas season and you will see amazing things happen because way back, the birth of a savior happened and that was the most amazing thing that anybody has seen.

The people we touch are our leaves.  As we live day by day, the more we interact with people, leaves appear more and more.  It makes the tree beautiful and wonderful to look at.  Our smile and expressions are things that people remember about us.  I think we are made in God’s image because He has a great smile and joyous expression.

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, will bear much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.  John 15:5

In Christ,
Stan Yee
