Dear Quarantined Sisters and Brothers,

Blessed Holy Week to all of you.

In the church we examine people as to their “personal faith.” Faith is personal, but it is never private.

John Calvin wrote, "...the gospel is not a doctrine of the tongue, but of life. It cannot be grasped by reason and memory only but is fully understood when it possesses the whole soul and penetrates to the inner recesses of the heart...our religion will be unprofitable, if it does not change our heart, pervade our manners, and transform us into new creatures." (John Calvin, "Golden Book of the True Christian Life")

The Covid 19 quarantine has brought us into a moment of crisis. In a crisis, we are stripped of the masks and distractions of life. In tough times, we find out quickly if the gospel “…possesses our whole soul…” Vulnerabilities have become public. We have the opportunity to allow Easter's truth to  “change our hearts”  and meet the needs of others with clarity through prayer, generosity and love.

Where there is need, please express it. Where there is bounty let us give. And, in all things let us continue to pray and give thanks to God for the gift of Easter which brings hope and new life now and forever!

Both Maundy Thursday and Good Friday worships will available via zoom. Go to the God's Grace (GGCC ) website for details.  Also available on the website are opportunities to sign up to pray at the Virtual Easter Vigil, on Saturday 4-8pm. Easter worship will be streamed at 10am this Sunday.

Let us pray for all of us. Each one of us is affected by this Coronavirus. Let us lift up those who have the virus, the economically challenged, the hungry, the lonely and homeless. As we are each gifted in some way to bring Easter and new life to another at this time, may we follow Christ as “transformed creatures“ practicing generosity.

See John 20 for further reflection.

Still in one peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
