Trampled Upon

Dear Dusty People,

The rabbis taught that when God promised to make Abraham's descendants more numerous than the dust of the earth, he wasn’t just implying that they would be numerous. Rather, like the dust on a road, God thereby promised that they would manage to outlast all those who trampled upon them!

Only God provides the strength to outlast what tramples upon us. The vision that God has for our lives is that we will not only outlast whatever setbacks and obstacles come our way, but that we will actually thrive on the other side of life’s challenges. Discipleship is a journey for which there are no guarantees, no mileposts except for the sure promises of God. Like Abraham, each of us is called to journey forth in faith, faith which is trust in the promises of a God who is trustworthy. (See Genesis 15 for further reflection)

Keep in prayer the annual Congregational Gathering, the celebration of our life together this Sunday. God has indeed blessed us for the journey and is worthy to be praised. We hope to see you this Sunday.

Still in one peace,
Pastor David J. Jensen
