Time is one of those things that is a standard 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  Time can pass quickly or not quickly enough depending on the situation.  Sometimes, I feel like I have way too much time on my hands and at other times I feel like there is never enough.  How do you feel about time?

This week I spent some time watching the Netflix remake of One Day at a Time.  I’ve seen reruns of the original version, so I thought I would give the remake a try.  I’m glad I did as I really enjoyed watching the first two seasons.  I look forward to the next season and wish I didn’t have to wait so long.  The combination of serious situations along with humor that had me laughing out loud was a perfect blend.  The other thing that had me hooked is the theme song.  If you get a chance to listen, I hope you enjoy it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1tekbfDSjg):

Lyrics for One Day at a Time by Gloria Estefan

This is it

This is life, the one you get

So go and have a ball

Straight ahead and rest assured

You can't be sure at all

So while you're here enjoy the view

Keep on doing what you do

Hold on tight we'll muddle through

One day at a time

So up on your feet

Somewhere there's music playing

Don't you worry none

Just take it like it comes

One day at a time

One day at a time

One day at a time

One day, one day, one day at a time

The words are just perfect and really resonated with me. Sometimes I look around at all the things I need to accomplish. My “to do” list keeps multiplying and I just don’t “have time”.  Where am I going to start?  What is priority?  How am I going to get it all done? Then, this song pops into my head and I know that I will get it done all in good timing, “one day at a time.”

God is the greatest at reminding us that all things happen in HIS time.  We are reminded in Matthew 6:25-34 (NIV) not to Worry: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

So, when worry or doubt or stress or other emotions creep into your day because you have too much to do with so little time, or you’re not even sure what you are supposed to do, know that God has your back and don’t worry.  Knowing you are taken care of, try doing as the song says … have a ball with the life you are given … enjoy the view and keep on doing what you do … hold on tight and muddle through … get up on your feet because somewhere music is playing … dance your way thru … don’t worry and take it like it comes … One day at a time.

Dear God, Thank you for the gift of time.  May we be reminded to enjoy the view and trust that all things happen in Your perfect timing.  Please also help us to remember that we are not alone as we have you and the beautiful people you place in our lives.  May we never take for granted the good or the bad as we can dance our way thru one step at a time, one day a time.  In your name we pray.  Amen.

Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost...HaHa!) Great job.

I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.

Too cool!
