There is a Light at the End

For years, I have had friends struggling with various mental wellness issues. Mental wellness is one of those areas that always feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel and darkness is all that is going to occur. However, and I feel like I beat this phrase to death but it’s a great phrase, “God wastes nothing” Rob Bell tells us. And this past month I have been able to once again confirm that nothing goes to waste as one of my friends has finally started to have their antidepressants work and the transformation, I have witnessed is nothing short of miraculous.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2 seems just way to on the nose for this story. In a world that mental illness is understood a little more every year, God’s creation and the intelligence we have been blessed with has allowed us to help our flawed beings more and more so that we may carry out His best life for us. As we go through our day to day let us remember to let our minds be renewed, it may not be as severe as depression or another mental illness, but we all have our anxieties, and with support from our faith communities, scientific gifts that we have developed, and other support systems we can achieve a transformation. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
