The Struggle

“We've forgotten that a rich life consists fundamentally of serving others, trying to leave the world a little better than you found it. We need the courage to question the powers that be, the courage to be impatient with evil and patient with people, the courage to fight for social justice. In many instances we will be stepping out on nothing, and just hoping to land on something. But that's the struggle. To live is to wrestle with despair, yet never allow despair to have the last word.”

Cornel West, from The Impossible Will Take a Little While

To live is to wrestle…which is to struggle…which is to doubt. We ask God, “why?” But answers rarely come. God can take our wrestling, our doubt, our anger and help us turn it into rich lives of purpose and meaning. Which is to love. Sometimes it takes courage to love. But, our God is with us. No matter what.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 10:00 am as we gather for worship. We come together in community where we can wrestle with the questions of life and hear the Good News that God is with us. It won’t be the same without you.

Grace be with you,
