The River in You

“God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him. We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in sea storm and earthquake. Before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains.

River fountains splash joy, cooling God’s city, this sacred haunt of the Most High. God lives here, the streets are safe, God at your service from crack of dawn. Godless nations rant and rave, kings and kingdoms threaten, but Earth does anything He says.” Psalm 46: 1-2, 4-6 The Message

Reading this Psalm was a gentle reminder of how God often puts hidden messages in poetry that speak to each of us. It spoke to me in many ways.

Hold fast to trust, in the one who lives in you. Even though noise is everywhere, refuse to give in to fear. He is the hope, the love, the joy that flows through you, to others. He is the river flowing through you and me. Earth does indeed do anything He says!

Take some time to sit with this Psalm. Read two or three times. How might it be speaking to you?

God’s peace for your day.
