The Power of God's Love

“Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my in most being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.
He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases;
he redeems my life from the pit and crowns me with love and compassion.
He satisfies my desires with good things,
so that my youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Psalm 103:1-5

Today is Good Friday. As we walk the Stations of the Cross, we see all of the phases Jesus went through during his life journey. Every one of us has had some phase or time in our life that has been difficult or we were tempted to stray from God’s love. As children of God, we attempt to find our own way and test the waters in many ways. Some choices we make are not as good as others and we find ourselves straying from God’s love. From time to time we can cover the ugliness of our guilt and shame, but not for long. What is buried eventually is exposed. Therefore maintaining a close fellowship with God and letting him be our guide, our counselor, our friend and source of strength will enable us to cleanse our lives and live by God’s pure love.

Dear God, I ask you to change and renew my heart. Help me to strip away my weaknesses and deal with my sins. Give me the strength to live my life courageously and to remember that you are always there to guide me by the power of your love. Amen.
