The Only Way

Dear American Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The United States of America is not perfect. The recent shootings in Charleston, South Carolina would suggest racism was far from over when Lee surrendered to Grant. Plus racism is merely one issue, each of us could point to many problems facing our country.

The solution to our dilemmas as a people, and as a nation, are spiritually rooted. It is out of spiritual foundations that we rise to BE all that God requires us to be. The foundation of our solution rises out of worship, out of prayer and out of repentance.

God promises to meet us when we worship. God said to Solomon, "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this temple as the place where I want you to sacrifice to me. (2 Chronicles 7:12)  I will listen, wide awake, to every prayer made in this place." (2 Chronicles 7:15)

All of what Solomon said, is in the context of worship. We are to gather at our places of worship to center our souls , our minds, and our hearts on God. God and God alone, is the centerpiece for direction and hope. We find fully our identity as people of God in the community of faith when we worship.

Worship gives life its proper focus and grasp of the eternal. We are centered not on the instant, but on the eternal. God knows and we know, that in this throwaway society of ours, where instant gratification reigns supreme, where the fleeting is often our preoccupation, we need to lay hold and be grasped and firmly held by the eternal.

 God Bless America,

Pastor David J. Jensen
