The Lord Is My Refuge

Last year was packed with wedding preparations, caring for Randy’s mom who had knee replacement surgery, starting a new job teaching at two senior residence facilities, and sharing our home with our nephew as he took his first step out into the real world. It was a full and wonderful year but it left me without the creative energy I needed to paint.

Now that 2011 is off to a fresh start and my home has returned to order and calm…I’m ready to paint again. I have spent a couple of days painting and can feel the creative spirit coming alive in me once again. I have missed its presence, it so much a part of my connection to our creator in Heaven.

Yesterday I got the news that I will need a biopsy and removal of a cyst in my left breast. I know from experience that this will set me back for a while and my renewed energy will falter. When I am tempted to worry, I pray, and God is with me. I shared my concern with my wonderful sisters of our Wednesday Group trusting in their prayers to cover and protect me. Lois even sent the perfect scripture for me to carry in my heart as I make my way through this next journey. “The Lord is my refuge” I trust and know that all will be well.

Do you have a group of brothers and sisters in Christ that you can call on? Do you have someone in your life who will offer you their prayers, their love and support? If you don’t I know a community of loving people at God’s Grace Community Church who stand at the ready to offer you Divine care. I can say for certain the lovely ladies of Wednesdays would love to welcome you into our circle from 12-1 every week! Come; dwell in the shelter of the Most High!

God’s Peace, Julie

Psalm 91
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,

10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
