The Good Life

What does it mean to have the “good life”? A nice house, a couple cars, several exotic vacations? Or perhaps a life partner, a couple kids, a good job? Maybe health, wealth and happiness? How do you define the good life?

In John 10:10, Jesus tells us that he came to give us the good life. "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly."

Life with Jesus is filled with service, humility, patience, putting others first, carrying a cross, reaching out to those in the margins, giving up, forgiving, being merciful, and loving.

That’s a slightly different picture of the good life. But Jesus promises that we will have the good life when we follow him. The good life of hope, compassion, peace, loving our neighbor and seeing the image of God in everyone we meet.

Sometimes we get that other stuff, the good life that the world has to offer and sometimes we don't. But what we really want and seek earnestly for with our hearts is the Good Life that Jesus came to bring.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow as explore what the good life means and how a small group of high school students and a couple of adults learned about it in Kansas City this past week. See you at 9:00 or 10:30 or via the stream.

Grace be with you,
