The Easy Way Out

Are you always looking for the easy way out?  The fastest method to complete a task.  The most efficient way to get something done.  I have a motto I like to use, “Working smarter, not harder.”  It’s about results and getting them quick.  It’s the way of the world, isn’t it?

Well maybe for most of us, but I’m not so sure it’s Jesus’ way.  In Mark 8:27-38 Jesus is talking with his disciples (and us) about who he is and what that means.  It’s certainly not the Savior they (or we) expected.  But, in God’s infinite wisdom, it’s the Savior we need.

The way of Jesus is:

  • about people, not things
  • about relationships not accomplishments
  • about love and sacrifice
  • full of compassion and grace

Jesus’ way is a journey, not a fast track.

It’s a lesson I have to hear over and over.  Something I need to learn and re-learn.  Thank heaven Jesus is patient and kind with me.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow, Sunday morning at 9 or 10:30 am as we explore the question of who Jesus is and what that means for us.
