The Beat

Matthew 11:29 – “Learn the unforced rhythms of grace." (The Message)

How does grace sound? Does it come in waves? Does it have a steady beat? Can I hear it? Can I ride on the grace car and pass through difficult times surrounded and protected like the pope in his popemobile? Will the bumps sound different?

Jesus promises to bear my burdens for me. Stay tuned in. He won’t give me things that don’t fit. He knows what I need and will provide it all along the way.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound…|…can you hear it?

Just as soldiers march together and in step, so it is with my daily walk with Christ. I run on ahead, and then I lag behind. I want to find my rhythm.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yolk upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

What a beautiful reminder of Jesus’ love for me. As I continue my daily walk, I pray that Jesus will continue to teach me the unforced rhythms of grace. I fear that I am losing my memory and cannot recall so many wonderful experiences of my life.

Help me to live in the present and not in the past. Jesus, walk with me and let me hear your heartbeat to find my rhythm. T’was grace that taught my heart to fear and grace my fears relieved. Enfold me in your grace rhythm. Let me always hear your gentle voice so I can stay in tune with your will for me. Use me Father God for your service and give me grace to endure what you have in store for me. Bless Mama today. I love her so and I know you love her more. Help her to feel the rhythm of your grace.

Up and down. Big ups. Little downs. Easy now. Let it go. Pick it up. Lay it down. Stay in touch. Don’t let me go.

T’was grace that brought us safe thus far, and grace will lead us home.

If this doesn't touch you, you don't have a heart.
