The Air I Breathe

I would like to invite you to pause with me for a moment.

What else are you doing right now?  Well, stop doing it for a moment.  Settle yourself into a comfortable sitting position.  Take a few deep breaths.  Commit to this for just a couple of minutes.

Breathe in....Holy Spirit fill me...

Breathe out...with your love...

Read slowly through the words of this interpretation of Psalm 16 from Stephen Mitchell's A Book of Psalms: Selections Adapted from the Hebrew.  Let the words sink in and fill you.

Unnamable God, I feel you with me at every moment.

You are my food, my drink, my sunlight, and the air I breathe.

You are the ground I have built on and the beauty that rejoices my heart.

I give thanks to you at all times for lifting me from my confusion, for teaching me in the dark and showing me the path of life.

I have come to the center of the universe; I rest in your perfect love.

In your presence there is fullness of joy and blessedness forever and ever.

Sit for a few more moments in silence.

Take a deep breath.   Look up and re-engage with the world around you.   Notice God's presence.

Thank you for joining me in this pause.  Hope to see you at "The Power of Pause" workshop on Jan 28.  It's a bit longer of a pause, but I think you'll enjoy every minute.

God bless you,
