Thanks Dad

Tomorrow is Father’s Day. I’m not a dad. But I have one, I’m married to a father and my son is a dad. I’m grateful for that.

We pray, “Our Father” in the Lord’s Prayer. We talk about how God is our heavenly father. Some people have had difficult relationships with their dads and this impacts their image of God. I am thankful that my relationships with my dad and the father figures in my life helped to nurture a healthy and trusting image of God. No, these relationships weren't perfect but they were enough. And, God’s unconditional love has embraced me through good times and hard times.

I try to regularly honor my dad, my husband, and my son for the effort and love they put into fathering. There are many societal expectations they face. But they do it well with a lot of laughter. I think God likes that and is proud of them.

Join us tomorrow to remember, celebrate, pray for and thank dads – including God our Father. We’ll be looking for you at 9:00 or 10:30. And as a special treat for the guys there will be root beer floats between services! So stay after the first service or come early for the second!

Grace be with you,
