Thanks Be...

Dear People of Gratitude,

“God humbled you by letting you hunger , then by feeding you with manna, with which neither you nor your ancestors were acquainted, in order to make you understand that humans do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” Deuteronomy 8:3

Today our congregation said farewell to Betsy Patterson. She was a good friend, mother, daughter, wife, grandma, community advocate, and most of all our sister in Christ. In the eight months or so since she was diagnosed with cancer I learned many things from her on her journey into the depths of resurrection truth. She had a way of offering the lesson in humility or confidence that was needed at the moment. Many of us gained from her gift. This Thanksgiving, may we offer thanks for those who remind us to be humble, remembering the Lord who is our confidence and strength.

“Be humble, for the worst thing in the world is of the same stuff as you; be confident, for the stars are of the same stuff as you.” Saint Nicholai Velimrovic.

Your life matters! Thanks be to God!

Pastor David J. Jensen
