Ten Years

What happens when people come together to make something happen? Usually?

Things happen.

What happens when people come together with Jesus to make something happen?

Impossible things happen.

Ten years ago, a group of people came together and decided to be a church.

GGCC happened.

And, the GGCC group of people knew they needed to come together with other people to make cool Jesus things happen. So they partnered with other ministries and organizations.

Ten years of really good things have happened.

Thanksgiving baskets at Paris Elementary School in Aurora. Christmas parties in Five Points with Rev and Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives. Bingo games at The Gathering Place for women seeking to escape homelessness and poverty. Neighborhood parties and tutoring in west Denver with Confluence Ministries. In Haiti, in Nicaragua, in Mississippi, in the Philippines and in many communities from Chicago to San Diego. And, in Highlands Ranch at Rock Canyon HS where teachers and staff and fed and encouraged and a building is shared. Just to name a few.

Thank you God!

And now as we begin really celebrating our ten years as GGCC, Jesus is leading the way with a special project everyone can be a part of.

Tentative timing: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Raising the Walls: Building Homes - Transforming Lives
Partner with Church at the Ranch, Missions Ministries, Raising the Walls and other community participants to build homes that will be sent to areas near Juarez, Mexico for families living in extreme poverty. The goal is 4 homes.
For $9,000 one home is assembled, transported and installed.
As a ten-year anniversary gift to GGCC, we’d like to donate the cost of one home. A family is matching up to $18,000 so our dollars will be doubled, if we can get to the $9,000.

Come together with GGCC, CatR, MM, RtW and others!

  1. Mark your calendar for Sunday, November 2nd. Normal worship will be replaced with the build. At this time, it’s scheduled to be in the parking lot of Platte River Academy on Colorado Blvd, just north of Whole Foods.
  2. Donate. Make a gift in honor of GGCC’s ten years. Mark your check or online payment with “Raise Walls”.
  3. Pray. Pray for good weather, for people to make the build a priority, for the financial resources to make it happen and for the families in northern Mexico whose lives will be transformed through a safe home.
  4. Visit www.raisingthewalls.org to learn more about how churches, corporations and communities are making a difference in the lives of families in northern Mexico.
  5. Meet Chris Henshaw, Executive Director of Raising the Walls on Sunday, October 19, 2014 in worship and between services.
  6. Invite others to be a part of this community and kingdom event.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 9 or 10:30 as we welcome our partner Rev Kelly who will preach at both services. And learn more about the Nov 2nd event.

Grace and peace,
