Sunkist & Sunmaid

John 8:12  (NIV) When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

I knew I had a devotional coming up soon so my mind was on the lookout for inspiration. This month it came at the grocery store. I walked in looking for raisins for Randy’s oatmeal and the first thing I saw was oranges. No matter where the oranges come from my first thought is always Sunkist. The sun kissing oranges always fascinated me as a kid. I believed that being kissed by the sun was magical!

And then I found the raisins…Sunmaid Raisins are the ones I always go to. Grapes once plump and bursting with juice have been transformed by the sun and made into something new and deliciously sweet. I was beginning to see a pattern here, things made better by the sun, hmmmm….

What if people were kissed by the sun? Would they be sweeter? Would they be transformed into something new? There is one “Son” you can be kissed by…Jesus! I do have my sour days, when the light has gone a bit dim and I have forgotten to open my heart and let the “Son-shine” in before starting my day. When I do let the “Son” kiss my soul I find His sweet words of kindness flowing from my mouth and I am transformed into His vessel letting the “Son-shine” in where ever I go!
