Sunday to Monday / Zimzum - Sacred Space

“Zimzum, say the Rabbis, is the sacred space between two.”
Rob Bell

Yesterday was beautiful worship reminding one another that God is always with us and God is creating sacred space for us to be in relationship with God. It can be difficult because as James Taylor said in Hemisphere Magazine, “…attention has been shattered into smaller and smaller pieces.” When have you attended to spending time in the sacred space of your relationship with God?

Reflections and links for your week.

  • How well do you zimzum with God? What is the space like between you?
  • Are you above or below the 3 week vacation average? Do you have vacation planned ? Will it help you get extended time with God?
  • What do you make of Noam Chomsky’s quote, that given the shortened pieces of information today you have “just enough time to restate what you already know”?
  • When was the last time a text like Deuteronomy 21:10-14 or Genesis 22 challenged you to think new thoughts with God? Pray that it happens more and take action that it might.
  • What is your prayer for the zimzum of a parent and a child?
