Sunday to Monday / Wrestling for change

“If no one took risks, Michelangelo would have painted the Sistine floor.”
~ Neil Simon

Jacob wrestled with God and God blessed him.  Actually, Jacob's life was filled with wrestling with God and humans; with struggle and betrayal; with fear running away. Not unlike our own journeys. We learned that God can do God's best work in us through our struggles and strife.

We are transformed in the times of orientation, disorientation and reorientation.

Take these thoughts, reflections, video links and activities into your week.

  • What are you afraid of? Are all fears bad? (See Genesis 32:17,18)
  • When have you wrestled with God? What were the results? (See Genesis 32:22-31)
  • Pray upon the words of Corrie ten Boom, “You don’t know that Jesus can be all you need until Jesus is all you have.”
  • For students & adults: Be reminded that God doesn’t make junk and wants you to be all God dreams you can be.
  • For families: A telling of the story of the Jacob wrestling with God
  • For everyone: Youtube of Bruce Springsteen singing “The Wrestler”
