Sunday to Monday | Witnesses to Jesus' Glory

“If you find a book on the miracles of Jesus, this won’t be one of them, and yet it is the single greatest miracle recorded on the pages of the New Testament prior to the resurrection.”   John Macarthur, from “The Unveiled Son Sermon 2018

Yesterday we gathered, as usual, to worship, praise, and thank God; to learn, to listen; to pray and to practice generosity. We gathered in room 300 at RCHS, via the stream over the internet and with our sister congregation in Booneville, MS as Pastor DJ, Pastor Milt, Jude, Cindi, Susan, Jim, Diana, Mark, Lois, Donna Rose & Bill  were present there. The family of God gathers in unique ways through the spirit.

Matt Schneider taught us about the story of the Transfiguration, what Jesus was doing just prior, where he and the disciples probably were geographically, what this meant to the disciples and what it means to us. There were witnesses (3!) to God the Father speaking, "This is my Beloved Son, listen to him." May we listen to Jesus and be ready to follow him and grow with him as we join him to carry our cross and learn the way.

If you missed being with us, you can still watch the service here. Get prayers of the day here. See photos from the morning's events here

For your week:

  • Read Mark 9:2-9. What stands out to you? What would you like to know more about? Why do you think this story is pivotal in Jesus’ ministry?
  • When have you had a mountaintop experience? What happened after?
  • What does Lent mean to you? How do you observe Lent?
  • Looking ahead to next week: How does having sisters and brothers in Booneville, MS affirm or challenge your faith?
