Shakespeare has young Juliet say, “What’s in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet…” – Romeo & Juliet, 1594
“…name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” – Matthew 1:21
On Sunday, Pastor Dave began a sermon series, The Journey to Christmas. The title of his sermon was “Names: Who is on the journey?” and text was from Mark 13:34-37; Matthew 1:18-20; Luke 1:35-45; Luke 1:38; and Matthew 1:21.
Some questions to think about as you start your week…
• What does it mean “to be named,” and to be known by God?
•
• Do you feel a connection to the name of Joseph (Matt 1:18-20); Elizabeth (Luke 1:35-45); Mary (Luke 1:38); or Jesus (Matt 1:21)?
•
• Let it be our prayer to faithfully “journey” and “wake up” as we prepare for Jesus’ birth among us.
•
• Reflect on the way God is at work through dreams in your life (Matt 1:18-25).
