Sunday to Monday / Who Do You Say Jesus Is?

“Money is good, but not without friendship, friendship is good, but not outside higher devotion, devotion to art and music is good, but not without a clear conscience; a clear conscience is good but impossible without forgiveness. So, the thoughtful person is ever dissatisfied with moderate joys and shortened goals.” George Buttrick

The question we wrestled with in worship yesterday was, Who do we say Jesus is?  The way to grow in our faith and in our understanding of this question is with spiritual parents - people with spiritual authority who mentor and coach us so that we can indeed move forward.

We celebrated and affirmed our sisters and brothers who serve as leaders in our children's and youth ministries.

Discussion starters, reflections and links for moments in your week to connect your secular and spiritual life.

  • Who do you tell others Jesus is (Matthew 16:13)? Who do you say that Jesus is (Matthew 16:15)?
  • If Caesarea Philippi was a spa-like place where Jesus went to do spiritual formation with his team. Where is your Caesarea Philippi? The place you go to relax with God?
  • Have you had spiritual authorities in your life who blessed you?
  • As Labor day approaches, what is your biggest work--life balance issue? Have you prayed into it with Jesus? Have you read the scriptures asking for insight?
