Sunday to Monday / When Jesus Shows Up

"Grace is an unseen sound that makes you look up." ~ Anne Lamott

Yesterday, April 10, 2016 was a big day for God's Grace Community Church. It was Consecration Sunday, the day we annually reflect on what God is doing in our hearts with generosity and make financial commitments for the year. This inspirational day we had Pastor Gabe Jolly and his wife, Leacie, from Mississippi. Pastor Jolly leads Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Reinzi, MS which our dear sisters, Angie Jumper and Big Mama attend. Pastor Dave preached at Hopewell in February.

Pastor Jolly brought the Word of God with his sermon "When Jesus Shows Up." Jesus brings exactly what we need, even when we don't know what we need. Where we're at our lowest, about to give up, Jesus shows up. He brings peace, perspective, purpose and power. When Jesus shows up, he changes lives.

A Confluence Ministries Band blessed our worship with all forms of musical praise from reggae to old hymns. It was rocking and beautiful.

Finally, the morning was capped off by a wonderful Celebration Luncheon. Catered with delicious food by our dear friends Remy & Jose Mendoza. We heard the good news that we receive 40 commitments for $231,180 to support GGCC ministries for the next year; 28 givers increased their giving over last year and 11 new pledges were received. Praise God!

Take the message into your week.

  • Why does it matter that people in South Metro Denver and Booneville, Mississippi see each other as brothers and sisters?
  • How have you been blessed by another in a different culture?
  • Who might Jesus be calling you to a deeper relationship with in another culture? Ponder this in prayer.
  • What does it mean “BELONG?” Read John 10:22-30 for further reflection.
