Sunday to Monday / Welcome Jesus

Are you ready to welcome Jesus? Sometimes it seems that all the stuff that comes up around the holidays gets in the way of welcoming Jesus.  We have to learn to welcome the unexpected guests:

  • traffic jams
  • crowded stores
  • sadness that Christmas isn't the same as when we were kids or when our children were small
  • blues that our loved one won't be with us this Christmas
  • jitters over traveling
  • anger over commercialism, consumerism and materialism during the holidays

To be ready to welcome Jesus we must welcome the bad, the good, the different and the unexpected:

One tool that can help us get through the negative feelings is the Welcome Prayer tool.  Click here to learn more about the Welcome Prayer

Reflections, conversation starters and links for your week.

  • John’s Gospel starts with “In the beginning…” Why did John start here about Jesus? What does it tell us about Jesus?
  • What darkness in your life hides God’s light? How have you experienced the gift of light shining in your darkness?
  • Who or what do you need to welcome this season? How might the “Welcome Prayer” become a part of your spiritual life? 1. Focus and sink in 2. Welcome 3. Let go
  • Looking ahead to next week:Do you believe the words “Peace on Earth” can ever be true?
