Sunday to Monday/ Truth

Loving God, we give thanks for the witness of John, the forerunner of Christ and the prophet of righteousness.  It is frightening to realize the dangers of faithfulness.  Strengthen in us resolve to follow where you lead, even to death upon a cross.  Confirm in us a desire for holiness.  Bless us with courage so that our witness might honor and embody the faithful and bold ministry of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

On Sunday, Pastor Dave’s sermon was entitled “The Truth About John the Baptist and Michael Jackson.”   Text was from Mark 6:14-29.

Take a minute to watch the following clip of Michael Jackson's performance of "Man in the Mirror" and really listen to the words-

Some questions to help you reflect on Sunday’s message…

• Who taught you how to not tell the whole truth, to be tactful?  Who taught you to be truthful?

• John the Baptist says to “prepare the way.”  (Mark 1:1-3) How is your preparation for Jesus?

• Honestly, what would you be willing to be beheaded for? (Mark 6:14-29)

• How would Michael Jackson’s life have been different if he’d faced truth at a higher level?  At what level do you face truth?  Who speaks truth to you?
