Sunday to Monday / The Process of Faith

“Do to others as you would have them do unto you.” Luke 6:31

It was Consecration Sunday with a Celebration Luncheon and boy, was it a beautiful day. We were pleased to welcome Pastor and Mrs Jolly from Booneville, MS along with Big Mama, Angie Jumper and our sisters and brothers from Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. It was a day we asked God to inspire our hearts with generosity for the annual stewardship campaign.

Pastor Jolly taught on the story of Jesus and Peter walking on the water (Matthew 14:22-31). He helped us to understand we must focus and keep our eyes on Jesus. There are "winds" that threaten all around us as well as temptations to keep our eyes off Jesus - but the process of faith is to reach out to Jesus, in good times and in hard times.

If you were unable to be there, you can watch the service here. See photos from the past week:

Results of our Consecration Sunday Stewardship Campaign (Praise God!):

  • $237,980 total pledged to support GGCC mission/vision
  • 39 total pledges
  • 24 increased pledges
  • 9 new pledges
  • $6,800 more than last year's Consecration Sunday
  • A pledge card will be sent to those who couldn't make it but would like to make a commitment and offering as a spiritual discipline

Reflections and conversation starters to take into your week:

  • How is generosity / giving a spiritual discipline for you?
  • Reflect on the theme verse of this year’s stewardship campaign: “Do to others as you would have them do unto you.” Luke 6:31
  • Why is having a sister congregation in Booneville, MS an important part of our congregations’ mission?
  • Looking ahead to next week: How do you live resurrected?
