Sunday to Monday / The Mountaintop

This last Sunday before Lent begins, our worship was focused on the traditional "Transfiguration" story  from Matthew 17:1-9.  One of three times when God identifies Jesus as the Son and Beloved and calls us to "Listen to Him."

Mountaintop experiences with Jesus and others, strengthen us for the valleys and challenges that lie ahead.  May we be open to when God's glory is shining on our relationships.

We'll be looking for you on Wednesday evening, March 5 for the start of Lent and Ash Wednesday worship.  It's a "come and go" experience from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at RCHS, room 3800.  (Enter through the school's main doors by the auditorium. Ushers and signs will direct you.)  There will be ashes, forgiveness of sin, communion stations; songs; and a brief reflection at every half hour.  Come for as long as you can or wish.

Topics, reflections, questions to guide your personal and communal conversations this week.

  • When do you feel the most physically and spiritually centered? How do those moments bless you? What would be problematic about staying in that place all the time?
  • If you could pick 3-5 people to take withyou to connect with Jesus in a mountaintop experience, who would you take? Matt 17:1-9 Wo do you want to share leadership with?
  • Reflect on a time you were rushed out of a mountaintop experience to serve in the valley. Was there a blessing in how the two fit together?
  • For you: “Lent is ___________” What?
