Sunday to Monday | The Mountain

“The sense that in this universe we are treated as strangers, the longing to be acknowledged, to meet with some response, to bridge some chasm that yawns between us and reality, is part of our inconsolable secret. And surely from this point of view the promise of glory becomes highly relevant to our deepest desire. For glory means good [rapport] with God, acceptance by God, response, acknowledgment, and welcome in to the heart of things. The door on which we have been knocking all our lives will open at last …”

C.S. Lewis Sermon “The Weight of Glory”

On Sunday, Pastor Dave reminded us that big things happen on the mountain top.  But we cannot stay there and we are reminded that God is with us both in the mountain tops and the valleys.

Here's some things to think about this week:

  • What are your mountain top places to come into the presence of God? (Mark 9:2)
  • We do not stay on the mountain tops. God follows us into the valleys. When have you felt god’s presence in a valley? (Mark 9:9-13)
  • In tough times do you remember to pray? What do you pray for? (Mark 9:19-29)
  • Let us give thanks in prayer for a God who understands and offers compassion in life’s peaks and valleys.
