Sunday to Monday/ The Joke's On Us

“Resurrected Jesus intrudes into our settled arrangements with defeat and death, opens up our futures, and discombobulates our accommodation with the status quo. Jesus comes among us and, when he does, hold on to your hats. Wherever, whenever Jesus appears, there is a fresh encounter with the power of the resurrected Lord. After Easter nothing is the same, even the world in June.”    – Dr. William Willimon

The title of Pastor Dave’s sermon on Sunday was “The Joke’s on Us.” Text was from 1 Kings 17:8-16 and Luke 7:11-17.

Some questions to reflect on this week…

  • Where has Jesus used humor to bless your life?
  • What parallels do you see between 1 Kings 17:8-16 and Luke 7:8-16.
  • Who do you shed a “Tear in Heaven” for? Pray that their memory be blessed among us
  • Pray that where you feel hopeless the divine humor of Jesus’ resurrection and the promise of new life will break through.
