Sunday to Monday / Substantive

“When you get to the top of the ladder,
you will wish you had the things you dropped on the way up!”
~ Bette Davis

Worship started our week off well as Pastor Dave shared Isaiah 55:1-7 and the concept of paying attention only to what is substantive, not superficial. We can be generous because God is generous with us.

Dr. Shawn Batterberry led us in envisioning what it means to give all we have and still realizing God provides for our needs. He challenged worshippers to give all the cash they had in their billfold. $1,884.73 was given. These Ready to Bless funds will be shared with Jose & Remy Mendoza, the custodial staff who partner with us each week at our facility RCHS. Their home is always open, there's always room at their table for one more, they are living mentors of hospitality. Thanks be to God for helping us to see that we have plenty of resources to share!

Reflections, conversation starters and links for your devotions this week:

  • Read Isaiah 55:1-7. Ponder what is substantive and what is superficial in your life.
  • Reflect upon the words of Matthew 6:21 “…where your treasure is, there will your heart be also..” Where is your heart?
  • When you hear Leo Tolstoy say, “Everybody thinks of changing humanity and nobody thinks of changing themselves.” What truth is being spoken to you?
  • Read the story of the passion this week: Mark 14:1-15:47. Pray that you find yourself in the story, journeying with Jesus.
