Sunday to Monday | Spirit-Led Freedom

Heading into the holiday week, Sunday worship focused on what it means to be free in Jesus.  Free to love and free to live adventurously.   Celebrating our freedom like this:

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism." - Erma Bombeck

"Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s Spirit." - St. Paul, Galatians 5:16 The Msg

Read through the 5th chapter of Galatians, Paul's letter encouraging the church in Galatia to use their freedom in Christ not to do whatever they want, but to be led by the Spirit to bear fruit.

  • What does “freedom” mean to you?  How does freedom play out in your life?
  • To what are you, or have you been, a “slave”?
  • Think of a time when you have been “led by the spirit”.  What did that look like?
  • Which fruit(s) of the spirit will you pray that Jesus will help you grow?  Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

God bless you this week.
