Sunday to Monday / Speak Up & Live Out

”Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world's grief.

Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly, now.

You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.”

Interpretive translation of Talmudic texts

Yesterday was a beautiful morning to gather for worship. Diana Dietvorst brought the Word to life as she shared Matt 13:3-16 and challenged us to follow Jesus into speaking the Good News. There is a lot going on in the world that concerns us - injustice, poverty, prejudice - and we can be the hands and feet and heart of God.

Reflections and resources for your devotions and conversations and relationships:

  • Which of the three monkeys – see no evil, hear no evil or speak no evil - do you relate more to?
  • Think of a time when:
    • you didn’t speak up in support of your views, values or someone else.
    • someone didn’t speak up in support of you
    • you expressed your views or your support of yourself or another
    • How did you feel in these situations?
  • What do you think is the “second task” in your life?
  • Looking ahead to next week: Who is missing from your table?
