Sunday to Monday / Set Free

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32 NKJV

Rev. Dr. Larron Jackson brought us the message that we are set free to serve Jesus. Being set free in Jesus is a gift from God, but it is a call to to follow Jesus into taking up our cross. It was a blessing to have Rev. Jackson with us this MLK weekend. His stories of sharing chicken with MLK Sr, learning from Coretta Scott King and the theology of MLK Jr were moving.

Take the message into this week: in your conversations and in your devotional time.

  • What impact has Martin Luther King Jr had on your life? What does it matter that he had a “dream today”?
  • What multicultural experiences have you had? How did the time bless you?
  • Being “freed in the truth” has a bearing on your eternal life and the now. How is Jesus calling you to change your today? Read John 8:27-32 for further reflection.
  • Pray this day for the ministry of Bismark, the missionary our congregation supports in Managua, Nicaragua.
