Sunday to Monday / Scattered

Speak only if you can improve upon the silence.
Medieval Monasteries

Today Pastor Dave taught on the story of the Tower of Babel, Genesis 11:1-9. The people decided they didn't need God and would be their own gods. God scattered them for their own good, and instead of us needing to go up to God, came down to us through Jesus. Now we are scattered to spread the Good News to a world that is hurting. We do our best to relate through Jesus' mercy to people who speak different languages, have different customs and are different from us.

Discussion starters, reflections and links for your week:

  • Pray upon the quote, ”Speak only if you can improve upon the silence.” What message is contained in that quote for you?
  • What is success without God? See Colossians 3:23.
  • C.S. Lewis said. ”Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next person.” Is your pride under control?
  • Looking ahead to next week: Read Genesis 17-18. Do you trust God can do miracles? When did you last pray for a miracle?

  • For kids: Tower of Babel story
  • For adults: Bob Goff’s 10 ways to live an extraordinary life
